The Tomcat derived so much lift from its fuselage and had so much control surface authority that in an emergency it could land in this configuration on a carrier… AMAZING!

It’s like the Fonz with a piece of toilet paper stuck to his shoe. Even in this messed up configuration it still looks like the baddest plane on the planet. Man I love that bird!
There was an Israeli F-15 that successfully landed after losing all but approximately 3 feet of one wing in a mid-air. Yes, lifting bodies matter.
