Whats your opinion on the Super Hornet chances against the Flanker family?
Should we belive everything written on the web or does it stand a chance?
Thanks in advance for your time, and sorry for the bad english but im portuguese…
Nuno- I would read through my work for a more detailed analysis, but basically when it comes to avionics, sensor fusion, and crew interface the SU-27/30/35 family is in a whole different class than the Super Hornet, especially the late Block II models and the emerging IRM/Block III. The APG-79 alone gives it a massive edge. Furthermore, you must look way beyond the “top gun” 1V1 scenarios, and even those are complex and multifaceted, and look at how these aircraft are operated as part of a larger combined arms total force. Now if you could put the Super Hornet’s avionics into an SU-35 you may have an even better 4.75+ gen fighter, but when it comes to reliability and OEM support there is no comparing Sukhoi with Boeing. The jet is far more useless if it can only fly half the time…
thanks for your reply…its nice to have someone with an educated opinion writting about aviation for a change…keep up with the god work.
