Iranian F-313 analysis and opinion will be up later today and it is not what many of you are expecting. Lots of shallow BS rolling around the net on this issue.
I am still debating posting that article on defense journalism. I may cut it up and turn down the heat a little bit. A major example I use in it that I do want to be read is that stupid story about that supposed “DF-21″ test that happened in the Gobi Desert. If you ran that story than take trusted defense expert off your resume. Asinine and mindless repackaging of defense stories without critical analysis is running amok on the interwebs! Bad info in bad info out etc. Be careful believing what you read.
Also, I totally forgot to post the Zero Dark Thirty Review, that will be up Wednesday morning I think.
I have been slammed working on a project that may very well change the way Aviationintel operates as well as the way I interact with my readers and the defense/national security world as a whole. Stay tuned, hopefully good news in the next week. I would put it at 50-50% odds but if it happens it will be a massive change.
Thanks for putting up with the uneven posts lately, only so much time in the day. Also, please share the site with friends, I need to continue to grow this thing. We have doubled since August but compared to much of what is out there I think we should be bigger. One more thing, thanks for commenting! The discussions have really blown up with very little of the trolling or mindless yaking on other sites. We have actually gained commenters from other sites because of this. I love reading your views, please keep it up. Today’s post should be spark and interesting discussion haha.

PS: I got an email from a defense writer who visits this site daily who said my sometimes inadvertent lack of grammatical control from time to time is an endearing quality to the site. Like a pirate radio type of deal or something. This was a nice gesture but I am really trying to make things as solid as possible so if you see any big errors please let me know. I am a content guy not a grammar guy, it is frustrating.
Can’t wait to hear what you have to share with us about F313.
Concerning the article about the defense “milieu”, nothing wrong with being critical as long as you have the right info, stay professional, don’t burn bridges and do expect to get hit back. If you dish out it, if have to be able to take it, I am sure you know that already.
Hope the site only gets better, I agree, one reason I check this site out is the commentary is quite good, diverse interests and so far little obvious political crap. There are sites I just check out the commentaries to laugh and don’t bother commenting, I mean what’s the point? Also so far, I haven’t noticed excessive moderating, some sites kill all talk, block threads as soon as they don’t like your opinion, etc….
Haven’t noticed many big errors, I wouldn’t be too concerned with it.
Ty,
Personally, I hope you do nothing to diminish the heat of your F313 article. Give us the unvarnished and untamed truth as you see it. That is the reason so many of us return to this site daily.
As for the DF-21 articles throughout the interwebs, it speaks of the current state of defense journalism in general. These are sad times if viewed through the lense of quality content.
Keep up the stellar work Ty!
Alex
I am not sure the defense writer was really referring to “lack of grammatical control” or instead was referring to the rather vocal tone that sometimes you use in articles like this: http://aviationintel.com/2012/09/12/broken-booms-why-is-it-so-damn-hard-to-build-a-tanker-aircraft/
Anyway your tone is one of the reasons I follow this blog. I like it, it’s endearing and enjoyable to hear a spade being called a spade.
And forgive me for my lack of grammatical skils, but Englis is not my mother tongue
Thanks again for running such a great site. Can’t wait for your F-313 analysis, and looking forward to the future changes you mentioned.
