ERNEST BORGNINE TAKES HIS FINAL FLIGHT…

Growing up Ernest Borgnine was an absolute favorite actor of mine, especially in his role playing Dominic Santini, the goofy yet badass older sidekick of String Fellow Hawk in one of my favorite shows of alltime, “Airwolf.” It’s amazing to think that Ernest played an action star at almost 70 years old!

After joining the Navy and fighting aboard Destroyers during World War II, Ernest took up acting and could be seen on screen throughout his entire life. Many of his roles were related to a military plot, such as his role in “Blue Angels” and “McHales Navy,” as well as many of his films. Just a year or so ago I saw him on Saturday Night Live during the chaotic “What’s Up With Dat” skit, amazing to think that he was in his mid 90’s at the time and still appearing with a smile across his face at that age! We should all hope to be so lucky…

Thanks for the great hours of TV Ernest, you will be missed!

I loved Airwolf also. If you feel like revisiting the series, it is available for streaming on Netflix.
