J-20: Now With Missionized Avionics!

New pics and video are coming out of China depicting the J-20 with panels popped and what looks like a functioning radome attached. There is also a spot above the radome that may be a place for an infra red search and track ball to be installed (possibly retractable) or some sort of forward looking infra-red and/or missile launch detection system aperture as seen to a much more advanced degree on the F-35. It is not clear if this is a new jet or not, as of now we know of airframes numbered 2001 and 2002, although I am sure China loves to play with Western intelligence agencies so even if this is one of the original duo it may appear with a new “bort” number. Also, who knows really how many of these machines exist as you would think that more sensitive development and testing would occur at a remote location? We also have to remember that the J-20 has been in the public eye for almost two years now so it’s about time that we see some evolution within the program. None the less, the AWACS and flying gas can killer is proceeding on its way to becoming an actual threat to American air-power over the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea…
